In multi-apartment buildings, water is supplied from central water supply systems. The water quality in central water preparation stations is regulated according to Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 671, however, the maximum permissible limits for water hardness in prepared water are not specified.

Water with increased hardness causes deposits in water supply distribution networks, thereby increasing pressure losses in pipelines. Under the influence of high temperatures, hard water causes limescale deposits on plumbing fixtures, washing machines, coffee machines, dishwashers, resulting in damage to plumbing equipment and creating unpleasant deposits and stains on laundry, dishes, and other surfaces. Therefore, if you want to protect your equipment from damage and extend its lifespan, it is necessary to soften the water.

The second problem in apartments of multi-apartment buildings is the contamination of drinking water distribution systems with pathogenic microorganisms - secondary contamination. Aging water distribution networks, which are rusty or corroded, cause discomfort to drinking water consumers due to the deterioration of water color, smell, and taste.
